BIFA unveils contenders for Young Freight Forwarder of the Year award

THE British International Freight Association (BIFA) has released the names of the four finalists who will compete for the title of Young Freight Forwarder of the Year at the association's 2007 Freight Service Awards, which is now in its 19th year.

The four finalists are: Pradeep Bhowmick from the Glasgow office of Geodis Wilson; Eve Gogarty from Worldwide Energy Logistics Ltd in Feltham; Daniel McAllister from the Rainham office of Ideal International and, Sukh Shinji from Allport at Heathrow, a BIFA release said.



Entries for the Young Freight Forwarder Award came from BIFA members, who selected employees under the age of 30 with a minimum of two years' experience within the freight industry who displayed high professional standards and made special achievements over the course of the year.



The winner of the award will be announced at the BIFA Annual Lunch and Awards Ceremony to be held at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London on January 17. The event is expected to attract more than 450 BIFA members and guests.



The winner will receive a trophy and a cheque for GBP1,000 (US$2,035), while the three runners-up will each be awarded a cheque for GBP200. The winner will also be nominated as the UK candidate in the Europe category of the FIATA/TT Club/IATA Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year Award 2008 competition, the statement said.
