Mr. Eric John Wynne: Phoenix Logistics is one of the most dynamic and fast growing logistics company in India. Established at Chennai by two like minded individuals, having a common goal to provide professional and personalized logistic solutions at a reasonable cost. This company over the past few years has steadily expanded operations in all major cities in India.
JCtrans: We know Phoenix Logistics provides a wide range of services, such as air and sea logistics, distribution services, purchase order management, etc. Then would you please talk about your advantageous services?
Mr. Eric John Wynne: Phoenix Logistics prides itself in offering customized and integrated solutions to its customers. We study the needs of individual customers closely, and provide cost effective solutions, tailor made to suit their budgets. We act as an extensive arm of the suppliers logistics department. We educate vendors on the need to prepare and provide proper documets for customs clearance. Assist the suppliers in getting licence and government approvals, follow up on duty drawback refunds etc. We offer Sea-Air and Air-Sea solutions for delayed shipments. This helps customers to save almost 30% of the air freight cost. We specialy design LD3 and LD7 air containers to move GOH cargo. We do recommend and suggest good buyers to few of our suppliers and vice versa. This not only helps in building a closer rapport with our clients, it also helps to increase our business with them. In short, we can move just about anything in anysize to anywhere, be it a "pin or a plane".
JCtrans: What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistics company?
Mr. Eric John Wynne: Logistics industry is similar to a service industry. Higher the customer's satisfaction is, better the results is. Companies who are able to provide personalized and professional service will be successful. It's important to have a highly motivated team, who are empowered to take decisions on behalf of the company. The systems and processes must be easily understood and applied. Managers must have the ability to anticipate and plan for eventualities. It's important to upgrade to the latest technologies to ensure the flow of information is never hampered. Last but not the least, passion for success must be the driving force.
JCtrans: Would you please talk about the current situation of logistic industry in India?
Mr. Eric John Wynne: Firstly, Indian logistics industry is expected to grow annually at the rate of 15- 20 percent, reaching revenues of approximately $ 385 bn by 2015.
Secondly, market share of organized logistics players is also expected to double to approximately 12 percent during the same period.
Finally, about 110 logistics parks spread over approximately 3,500 acres at an estimated cost of $1 bn are expected to be operational and an estimated 45 mn ft2 of warehousing space with an investment of $ 500 mn is expected to be developed by various logistics companies by 2012.
JCtrans: Finally, will you please talk about the prospect of Phoenix Logistics? Mr. Eric John Wynne: With the Indian logistics industry slated to grow at a healthy rate, and with many new MNCs starting manufacturing and sourcing activities in India. We anticipate good growth in the coming years. We are planning to expand our operations to smaller cities and towns. We are working at strengthening our overseas network. We will be focusing on China and other Far East countries to increase our import volumes. Europe and USA will continue to remain our key target markets for export expansion.
