Wu Tianqian is the manager and co-founder of Qingdao Jiluda Logistics Co., Ltd. I got the feeling that she was young, capable and experienced after the first telephone conversation with her. Through MSN and e-mail, she told me her experience and insights in logistics sector.
Q: Good afternoon. Thank you for accepting our interview. As such a young age, you have become a manager. It must be that you have been working in logistics industry for a long time, isn't it?
A: Not very long in fact. I began my career in logistics sector since 2000.
Q: Then, what did you do before that?
A: Financing. And I get acquainted with logistics little then.
Q: Many people think that it is hard to work as a freight forwarder, so why did you choose this industry and stick to it till now?
A: Maybe because I was influenced by the environment in Qingdao. I think every young people here is energetic. I am no exception. It is also because of this enthusiasm that I achieve the success now.
Q: What was your first job when you began your career in logistics industry?
A: Documentary operator. At that time, my major work is putting documents, bills and checks in order, dividing them into different categories, and then keeping them in file.
Q: Most documentary operators are working under pressure. That is what I know. How about you?
A: I was under pressure at that time, too, for there was too much odd work. However, I reaped what I had sown. I received 500 shipments of goods within 3 months as documentary operator. Then I began to work as cashier, also under lots of pressure.
Q: Then you became one of the founders of Jiluda, right?
A: Yes, I was a manager when Jiluda was just founded. At that time, there were just two or three people in the company and now whenever I think about the development of my company, I feel proud and full of enthusiasm.
Q: Did you face any frustration at the beginning?
A: Of course. But there is always a way. I have not met any difficulties that can not be resolved at the end; and there is no difficulty which impressed me deeply when I recall the past. I keep a cool head from the beginning to the end and my dream finally comes true.
Q: I noticed that your advantaged shipping lines are European shipping line, west America shipping line, east America shipping line, mid-south America shipping line, and east-south Asia shipping line. So among them, which is the first shipping line you developed?
A: Our customers required different shipping lines, so we developed all of these shipping lines at the same time with the support of our customers.
Q: During busy seasons, cancellations of the confirmed vessel space occur frequently. What is your attitude toward that? And how do you resolve the problems when you run into this matter?
A: The contradiction between supply and demand is inevitable, so we have to keep calm when it happens unexpectedly. I have met this kind of incidents several times, and what we can do is to explain the matter to our customer as early as possible and then resolve it by doing our best that can satisfy customers' demand. Generally speaking, most customers can accept the way we solve the problem.
Q: What's your plan for the future of your company?
A: Our company is still too young, and we have to draw on the experience of other companies and pay more attention to the structure of the company. I hope our company will be better and stronger if we take every opportunity.

A: We have never tried to attract customers by using internet. However, judging from the situation of logistics industry, I find it is closer to internet day by day. That is why we decide to expand our business by internet. Q: How do you think about logistics online? What are the advantages of logistics online compared with traditional logistics, and where does the logistics online need to be improved?
A: The logistics online is developing rapidly. Compared with traditional one, it is more convenient and faster with more useful information. However, on the other hand, logistics online is lack of effective supervision and standards.
Q: Online logistics is the trend of logistics industry. Although it is still immature, every step of its development will add new energy to the logistics industry and its future is suppose to become brighter. Thank you for your time and I hope your business will be more prosperous every day.
