Iran resumes natural gas export to Turkey
POSTED: 1:58 p.m. EDT, January 8,2007

Iran resumed natural gas export to Turkey on Sunday morning, weeks after a suspension caused by heavy domestic consumption, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

Iran pumped 3.5 million cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey till noon, the report said.

Officials from the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources declared that the amount of natural gas pumped to Turkey from Iran would increase.

Claiming that it could not meet the domestic demand due to severe winter conditions, Iran first started to reduce the daily 27 million cubic meters of natural gas flow to Turkey last month and then totally cut it on Jan. 3.
