Alteon Training, a subsidiary of US aircraft manufacturer Boeing, has officially opened in Singapore what it calls the largest aviation training centre in the Asia Pacific region.
The facility near Changi Airport is able to train more than 6,000 pilots, mechanics and flight attendants per year, Alteon said. There are seven full-flight simulators and an emergency evacuation chute for flight attendant training.
"Given the tremendous growth potential of the industry, particularly in this region, there is now a growing demand for specialized aerospace-related training," Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry, Lim Hng Kiang, said at the opening ceremony.
Lim said aerospace is one of the fastest growing industries in Singapore, which now accounts for one quarter of Asia's aerospace maintenance and repair market.
Alteon has other training centres in Australia, South Korea, Japan and China.
