Invest in Sweden Agency (ISA) has been named the world's top investment promotion organization for the second consecutive year in a report commissioned by the World Bank, Radio Sweden reported yesterday.
ISA was ranked as the leader among the world's 11 top national investment promotion agencies by the Investment Promotion Agency Performance Review 2006.
The review, published by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, part of the World Bank Group, named ISA as the premier organization for handling investment inquiries and communicating with potential investors via its website.
ISA and its 10 foreign counterparts were used as a best- practice benchmark for investment promotion agencies from 114 developing and growing economies.
The benchmark group was selected on the basis of recommendations by institutional investors and investment consultants.
Kai Hammerich, ISA director-general, said: "Competition for foreign investment is extremely tough and it's clearly a challenge for Sweden to be ahead of other countries with larger economies and greater resources for investment promotion."
