Two soldiers of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed and another one injured in two separate roadside bombings in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday, an ISAF statement said.

"Two ISAF convoys were approximately eight kilometers apart, conducting independent operations in support of the Afghan government, when they were attacked within 30 minutes of each other," it said.

The statement did not tell a more detailed location for the blasts, and the soldiers' nationality.

The attacks are under investigation by both Afghan authorities and ISAF, according to the statement.

The bulk of ISAF troops being deployed in eastern Afghanistan are Americans.

Over the past few days, ISAF fatalities caused by roadside bombings have notably increased.

A roadside bombing killed two Canadian soldiers of ISAF in the southern Kandahar province on Wednesday night.

Another six Canadian soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in the same province on April 8, while an ISAF solider was killed in a similar attack in southern Afghanistan earlier on the same day.

Due to rising Taliban-linked insurgency, over 800 persons have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
