Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Seoul on Tuesday for his first visit to South Korea as premier.

Wen is expected to talk with South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun over the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, the situation in northeast Asia, regional cooperation and other international issues of common concern during his two-day visit.

Wen is also scheduled to meet his South Korean counterpart Han Duck-soo and the country's congress leaders during the first visit by a Chinese premier in seven years.

Before his visit, Wen said in a joint interview with South Korean media that bilateral relations enjoy an important political foundation as there are no territorial disputes between the two countries.

After the visit to South Korea, Wen will travel to Japan on Wednesday for what he described an "ice-thawing" journey, to reciprocate his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe's "ice-breaking" visit to China in October last year.

His two-nation tour will end on Friday.
