Air Serbia has posted a 46 per cent year-on-year first quarter increase in air cargo to 175 tonnes, attributing the rise to an expanded network, improved reliability and effective marketing.
"In addition to strong growth in passenger revenue, we are also growing very important cargo revenue, which provides more stability to the revenue base of the business," said Air Serbia CEO Dane Kondic.
Company cargo includes general items, perishables, including exports of local Serbian cheese, as well as spare industrial parts and electronics, said the airline.
Air Serbia launched new routes to Sofia and Budapest in the first quarter, reported Atlanta area Air Cargo World. These two routes bring the current Air Serbia network to 34 Euro-Med destinations serviced from its Belgrade base.
The carrier has also negotiated a series of codeshare agreements with Etihad Airways, airberlin, Tarom, Adria Airways and BH Airlines. More routes are to be announced in the course of the year, said the statement.
