Germany's Lufthansa Cargo has taken delivery of a fourth Boeing 777 freighter that flew into the carrier's home base in Frankfurt for the first time and will now operate on South American routes.
The cargo airline currently offers a large number of freighter flights to Brazil and also uses the capacities in the bellyhold of passenger flights.
Lufthansa says it is investing in five new Boeing 777Fs between now and 2020 as part of a programme to modernise its fleet.
These Triple Seven freighters can carry 103 tonnes of cargo over 9,000 kilometres, effectively from Frankfurt to Shanghai.
"We are delighted with the superb reliability and efficiency of the new triple seven aircraft," said board member operations Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht in a company statement.
