CEVA Logistics, the Dutch global supply chain company, is expanding its aerospace operations at Fort Worth Alliance Airport (AFW), the world's first purely industrial airport for cargo and corporate aviation, according to Shipping Gazette.
CEVA already has a 150,000-square foot (13,935-square metre) distribution centre near the airport. The new facility has 100,000 square feet (9,290 square metres) of warehouse space adjacent to the airport runway.
This permits chartered flights to taxi directly to the facility for unloading cargo, also providing ocean freight transport management and other pre-manufacturing support services, said the CEVA statement.
"Our operations are directly related to providing value added services to aerospace, including cost effective manufacturing support," said CEVA vice president Kim Wertheimer.
"CEVA's automotive sector has proven valuable to large aerospace customers who seek to enhance their manufacturing strategies. This facility takes that to the next level for aerospace," Mr Wertheimer said.
