HACTL's air cargo volume plunges 32pc

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals (HACTL) handled in May a total of 157,103 tonnes of cargo, representing a decrease of 32 per cent compared to the same month a year earlier, according to Shipping Gazette.
Cargo volumes from Hong Kong's three top trading partners were down year year in May. Europe with 49,127 tons was down 1.6 per cent; southeast Asia with 41,273 tons was off 42.2 per cent and North America with 36,185 tons, was down 34.2 per cent.
Within the May total, import cargo amounted to 45,002 tons, down 18.2 per cent year on year, while export cargo was down 18.7 per cent year on year to 99,568 tons, reports Bloomberg News.
Total transshipment volume in May fell by 76.5 per cent compared to the same month the previous year to 12,532 tons.
