Chopin Airport air cargo figures for the first quarter of 2014 were 27.5% up on the corresponding period last year, with a total of 14,300 tonnes handled from January to March.
Domestic freight stood at 164 tonnes, while the figure for international traffic increased by nearly 28% from 11,000 to 14,100 tonnes. Imports continued to exceed exports, with 8,100 tonnes and 6,000 tonnes respectively.
Air mail saw a slight fall (down 0.4% in the first quarter of 2014), reaching 3,800 tonnes.
The most popular cargo destinations included: Cologne (2,200 t), Leipzig (1,700 t), New York (1,600 t), Dubai (1,300 t) and Chicago (900 t). The biggest cargo carriers were LOT Polish Airlines (4,300 t), UPS Airlines (2,700 t), European Air Transport (1,700 t), Emirates (1,300 t) and Air Transport International (900 t).
