The European Parliament has voted to make regulations regarding airport noise restrictions more transparent, which if signed in law, will take effect in 2016, reports American Shipper.
The bill outlines how local governments can impose noise restrictions on airports, a process that included international data and rules of evidence as well as providing long lead times and early notification to affected carriers.
Night flying freighter operators are the most affected.
"These new rules will make it easier to find solutions that will satisfy citizens living close by the airports without losing sight of the important economic impact that those airports have on local economies," said European Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas.
