IAG CARGO will introduce an additional weekly flight in June to be added to the existing five flights a week, before moving to full daily service in July between Madrid and Panama City.
The route, served by Iberia's A340-300, A340-600, as well as the airline's brand new A330-300, will deliver 24 per cent capacity in and out of Panama City with the daily service.
Panama has an anticipated growth in GDP of 6.9 per cent this year, making it Latin America's fastest growing country and an important market for IAG Cargo.
"These flights are important for the delivery of perishable goods from across the region, for example carrying fresh flowers from Colombia," said IAG regional manager Rodrigo Casal.
Iberia, operating as part of the IAG Cargo network, is the only airline to have flown between Europe and Panama without interruption since 1971. The Panama route forms one small part of IAG Cargo's global network, which connects more than 350 destinations worldwide, according to Shipping Gazette.
