A three-day pilot strike at Lufthansa Cargo has delayed movement of 4,500 tons of freight and led to the cancellation of 3,800 flights, and had a "severe" affect on its business, according to Shipping Gazette.
The company has had to cancel half of its freighter flights, said Lloyd's Loading List. "Our current focus is to re-establish smooth operations after the end of the strike and offer the scheduled programme.
"As we had informed our customers immediately after the announcement by the union (of the strike), forwarders had the chance to rebook their freight. Therefore we do not have any backlog at our stations," a company said.
The cargo airline has not released its own exact figure on the financial impact of the strike. but said it is included a "double digit million euros loss".
