Qatar Airways is to begin scheduled freighter services to Hyderabad, India on April 1 and London Stansted, UK on May 1 alongside restart service to Zaragoza, Spain on March 1, according to Shipping Gazette.
The state-owned carrier's addition of new freighter routes shows its aggressive moves to become the "world-class air cargo service provider," said QA Cargo freight chief Ulrich Ogiermann, reported Doha's Gulf Times.
"The addition of these new freighter routes clearly represents yet another milestone in Qatar Airways' growth strategy," he said with the delivery of three new freighter aircraft expected in 2014, two B777Fs and one A330-F.
Hyderabad will be the first new destination added to the Qatar Airways Cargo network. It will be a twice weekly service using the A330 freighter. Main exports from Hyderabad will include IT products and pharmaceuticals.
Qatar Airways already operates a daily passenger flight between Doha and Hyderabad.
The London Stansted service will run five weekly Boeing 777 freighter flights.
The scheduled twice-weekly Airbus A330 freighter service to Zaragoza will ship major commodities of textiles, agricultural products, footwear, automobile and pharmaceuticals.
