In 2013 Etihad Airways carried 486,753 tonnes of freight and mail, an increase of 32 per cent compared to its 2012 volumes, with the fastest tonnage growth in China and India.
According to Etihad, its volumes were boosted by an increased cargo capacity, including bellyhold, and its freight accounted for 89 per cent of cargo imports, exports and transfers at Abu Dhabi Airport.Last year, the Abu Dhabi-based airline took delivery of eight Airbus aircraft and eight Boeing types. The new Airbus aircraft are, one A330 freighter, four A320s, one A321 and two A330-200s. The additional Boeing aircraft are two 777 freighters and six 777-300ERs.
