Emirates received delivery of its 43rd and 44th A380 aircraft with a double delivery (pictured above) from Airbus’ Finkenwerder facility in Hamburg. PEMCO World Air Services announced a new multi-year contract extension with JetBlue Airways. Under the new agreement, PEMCO will provide aircraft heavy maintenance services for JetBlue’s fleet of Airbus 320s for up to five years. This is the fifth consecutive year PEMCO has been selected by JetBlue for its airframe maintenance requirements. After a positive month of October, g rowth continued at Brussels Airport through November with cargo volumes up by 6.8 percent. This is mainly attributed to the strong development of e-commerce and the launch of new routes. Integrator traffic and DHL in particular recorded strong growth. Belly cargo carried on board of passenger aircraft is picking up again after a difficult start earlier in 2013. CEVA Logistics announced a renewal of business with Ford Motor Company in which CEVA will provide a range of logistics functions for Ford’s Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant in Louisville, Ky. CEVA has served Ford’s plant as a material service center provider for the past five years. Air Caraibes, the regional airline of the French Caribbean, signed a firm contract with Airbus for three A350-1000s, the largest member of Airbus’ new generation A350XWB family. The airline will also lease three new A350-900s from ILFC. The aircraft will enter into service between 2016 and 2022. The airplanes will be operated on the Air Caraibes’ routes from Paris to Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint-Marteen, Haiti, Saint-Domingue and French Guyana. Air France-KLM’s cargo traffic rose 0.4 percent in November with stable capacity, leading to a 0.5-point rise in load factor to 68.7 percent. AIA Cargo announced three new appointments. In Austria, AIA has been selected to represent Royal Jordanian Cargo effective Jan. 1, 2014. AIA will be in charge of all marketing and reservations of Royal Jordanian’s daily passenger service, plus weekly freighter operation from Vienna to Amman, Jordan. In Kenya, AIA has been appointed to represent LOT Polish Airlines weekly Dreamliner services from Mombasa to Warsaw. The flight offers around 15,000 kilograms (33,069 pounds) capacity of uplift. AIA has also further strengthened its relationship with South American freighter operator Solar Cargo. AIA will market Solar’s daily flights to Venezuela from Miami and in addition the new services from the Dominican Republic to Venezuela. The Australia Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development has approved Melbourne Airport’s 2013 Master Plan. The plan includes a third runway and elevated road network. Logistics technology services provider Descartes Systems Inc. acquired Impatex, the UK’s largest customs and freight forwarding software company. Before the sale, Impatex was owned by its founder Peter Day, who launched the company in 1980. Impatex provides its Integrated Customs for Europe processing system for users such as Agility, Damco, DHL and Geodis Wilson.
