More than 4,370 tons of cargo went through Chopin Airport in October 2012, a 12.3% increase year-on-year. Domestic cargo volumes fell by 6%, while international freight grew by 12.6%. The airport also saw a 5.4% increase in the amount of mail handled in October. In the period from January to October, cargo traffic at Chopin Airport was up by 2.7%, reaching 37,200 tons. Imports exceeded exports: inbound cargo stood at 21,700 t (+5.4%), and outbound at 14,900 t (-0.4%). The most popular cargo destinations included: Leipzig (5,900 t), Cologne (5,100 t), Chicago (2,700 t), Chengdu (2,400 t) and New York (2,400 t). The biggest cargo carriers were LOT Polish Airlines (12,200 t), UPS Airlines (8,800 t), European Air Transport (5,800 t), Sprint Air (1,600 t) and Air Contractors (1,500 t).
