Carriers putting customer-centric cargo rates on-line

2010-2-9

Two North American airlines are moving to put customer-specific pricing information on-line. America Airlines Cargo has run a pilot programme with a large client to provide electronic rate information and is using the web as a second avenue of approach, while Air Canada Cargo is concentrating on making contract rates and spot prices available through its booking portal.

AA Cargo has opted for a two-pronged strategy to give its customers rate information electronically. It has worked on a worldwide basis with one major customer who gets his specific rates in Exel format, which is easier to use than a 200-page PDF-file, said Robin Mitchell, manager of cargo revenue management.
