Airbus: orders won't pick up for 2 more years

2010-2-5

Airbus does not expect plane orders to pick up for two more years, its chief executive said, Reuters reported.

"Overall, we won't see orders pick up till 2012, so we still have two difficult years ahead," Tom Enders said.

He said in the meantime Airbus's priority is to handle its huge backlog of 3,400 planes.

Enders also said Airbus is well placed to survive a couple of years with low orders intake of around 300 planes.

His comments came after Airbus officials said overall orders for aircraft in 2010 are only likely to be around 250-300 against 310 last year.
