AeroLogic increases Singapore-Leipzig capacity

2009-7-29

AeroLogic has expanded its Leipzig ¨C Bahrain ¨C Singapore ¨C New Delhi ¨C Leipzig service from four weekly flights to 10.

The move increases capacity on the Singapore-Leipzig route by 16% to a total of 1,030 tonnes per week.

Damon Wong, senior manager for cargo and logistics development at Changi Airport Group, told IFW the Singapore-Germany route remained among Changi¡¯s top 10 import and export trade lanes, despite the global air freight downturn.

Wong said that signs of improvement in air cargo volumes via Singapore were now emerging.

Changi handled 130,000 tonnes of air freight in the first six months of 2009, a 20.2% decline over the same period in 2008.

However, the rate of decline narrowed in May and June when the year-on-year decline averaged 16.7%.
