Vienna airport operator Flughafen Wien is halting construction of its new Skylink terminal, riddled by delays and cost overruns, daily newspaper Die Presse reported.
Die Presse said Flughafen could announce a halt to construction work on Tuesday.
Flughafen was not available for comment.
The terminal was due to open in 2012 after several delays from an original target date of 2008. Projected costs have more than doubled to EUR830 million euros (USD$1.16 billion) from an original EUR400 million, Die Presse said.
Flughafen's new finance director Ernest Gabmann, appointed earlier this year, ordered a review of the new terminal's costs shortly after taking up the job.
