Air France unions call strike for January 29

2009-1-19

Labour unions at Air France said they called for strike action on January 29, to coincide with industrial action planned throughout France to highlight dwindling purchasing power and job security, Reuters reported.

In a statement made earlier in the week, seven unions said they planned to join nationwide protests over wages and labour negotiations.

In November, traffic at Air France, a unit of Air France-KLM, fell 0.8 percent, due notably to a four-day strike by pilots.
