Airport operator BAA believes the only way is up after booking stronger underlying profits in the nine months to September, the Scotsman reported.
The debt-laden group, which last week sold off Gatwick airport at a loss, said it believed the worst of the decline in passenger numbers was over.
Chief executive Colin Matthews said BAA's flagship operation, Heathrow, showed "continued resilience", with passenger numbers down just 2.3 percent, while the business also benefited from higher retail spending and tight cost controls.
"As the economy recovers, passenger numbers will recover with it ... I think we can say the worst is past," said Matthews. |
