JetBlue terminal reopens at New York JFK

2008-9-23

The JetBlue terminal at New York's John F Kennedy Airport was reopened after being briefly evacuated on Monday because of a suspicious device, the airline said.

JetBlue spokeswoman Alison Eshelman said the airline evacuated JFK's Terminal 6 around 7:45 am "out of an abundance of caution" after a suspicious device was found in a customer's checked luggage.

The terminal was reopened at about 8:15 am after the suspicious device was found to be a couple of World War Two replica grenade paperweights. Eshelman said there were minimal flight delays resulting from the evacuation.

Officials are on alert because the United Nations General Assembly is meeting in New York this week.
