Air France KLM on Monday reported a 2.6 percent rise in June passenger traffic, bringing the increase in its first fiscal quarter to 3.7 percent.
The Franco-Dutch airline's load factor fell to 81.5 percent, down 1.2 percentage points, in June. In the April-June quarter, its planes were 80.3 percent filled on average, down 1.1 percent.
The group said premium traffic had pushed up the amount of revenue it yields per seat, before adjusting for currencies.
Air France KLM said its passenger capacity had risen 4.1 percent in June but joined many airlines in adjusting its capacity growth forecasts in the light of high oil prices.
"Air France-KLM has adjusted its capacity growth forecasts and now foresees a rise of some 2 percent for the Winter 2008 program and of a similar level for the Summer 2009 program," it said in a statement.
June cargo traffic fell 1.5 percent with a 1.8 percent rise in capacity. The load factor fell 2.2 points to 65.4 percent.
The figures came as budget airline easyJet reported a 19.5 percent rise in passenger traffic in June, similar to the 19 percent jump in traffic outlined by Ryanair, Europe's biggest low-cost airline, on Friday.
British Airways however, said last week its traffic fell 3.7 percent in June, as both premium and economy weakened compared to last year.
BA said the difficult consumer environment had led to reduced traffic, while high fuel costs had caused the airline to increase fares.
