Manchester Airport's car park manager is a hero in Barrow-in-Furness. The town's rugby league club, Barrow Raiders, faced a £1430 bill when a former player left a club car in the short-stay - for 54 days.
Loose forward Pat Weisner moved to New Zealand with his girlfriend without telling the club and used the car to get to the airport, posting the keys back but failing to mention where it was parked. The £26.50 day rate soon started racking up.
However, the unnamed car park boss agreed to waive the fee. Barrow Raiders commercial director Peter Millican told the North-West Evening Mail: 'The car park manager should be made an honorary member of Barrow RL after this. He waived every single penny and let us take the car for free.' |
