Stansted has won an award for its efforts to encourage travellers to use public transport when travelling to the airport. The Essex hub won the Mobility Management in Companies prize at the International Transport Forum in Leipzig, Germany, where government and business officials from around the world convene to discuss transport-related issues.
A Stansted spokesman said that about 44% of its passengers travel to the airport via rail, bus or coach - the highest proportion in the UK. He added: 'As a major international airport, we recognise that we have a responsibility to encourage as many passengers as possible to use public transport.' |
