The first Boeing 777 Freighter moved out of the factory in Everett, Wash. Tuesday night. The next phase of work will prepare the plane for a flight test this summer.
The 777 Freighter will fly farther and provide more capacity than any other twin-engine cargo airplane, Boeing said in a statement. Launch customer Air France expects delivery of its first one in the fourth quarter of 2008. Between Air France and ten other customers around the world, Boeing has orders for 78 of the planes.
The aircraft is based on the 777-200LR Worldliner passenger airplane and is built using the same production line as all other models of the 777.
