Regional airports tipped to rise with demand for more destination choice

2008-5-14

REGIONAL airports in the UK are expected to increase flights with increased choices for customers being demanded, says Yorkshire's Leeds-Bradford Airport.

"There is not a shadow of a doubt that regional airports in the UK are going to gain in popularity," said Tony Hallwood, the airport's development director.

"As [regional] airports introduce more destinations and more choice with a wider number of scheduled airlines, there is now less need for people to trawl down to London to connect to flights worldwide," he said in a FHR.com (Flight Hotel Reservations) report.

The airport reports it has become one of the fastest growing regional airports, with 75 per cent increase in traffic, offering a number of domestic and European services and is now to focus on long-hauls to New York.
