China Postal Airlines recently launched a new cargo mail service between Shandong's coastal city Yantai and the South Korean capital Seoul, shortening the delivery times between the two cities by at least 12 hours, Xinhua reported.
China Postal Airlines operates five flights per week on the route with a Boeing 737 aircraft, which departs Yantai at 1100 hrs and arrives in Seoul at 1210 hrs, the report said.
The new cargo mail service is the first of its kind between South Korea and Shandong province, the largest investment destination of Korean companies, the report said.
South Korean companies altogether invested about US$20 billion in Shandong in 2007, accounting for 27 per cent of the total investment of South Korea in China, the report said.
Currently there are 18,000 South Korean companies investing in Shandong, accounting for half of the total in China and most of them were investing in Shandong cities of Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai.
The new service, part of China Postal Airlines' international market expansion plan, will boost economic exchange between Shandong and South Korea, the report said.
Shanghai-based China Postal Airlines, a 51:49 joint venture between China Post and China Southern Airlines serves more than 2,000 domestic cities and overseas destinations in more than 200 countries and regions in the world.
