KOREAN Air and Uzbekistan Airways have signed an agreement that enables Korean Air to enter the Central Asian markets through a "cooperative relationship" with the Uzbekistani carrier.
Kyung-Hwan Chang, Korean Air executive vice president of corporate strategy, and Valeriy Tyan, Uzbekistan Airways director general and head of the Uzbekistani Aviation Administration, signed the Letter of Intent (LOI) for mutual cooperation in Seoul.
According to the LOI, the two companies will jointly participate in the construction of an international logistics centre at Navoi International Airport; seek Uzbekistan Airways' associate membership in SkyTeam; and increase the air travel capacity between Korea and Uzbekistan.
The two companies agreed to form a joint task force which will pursue the tasks in detail, a statement from Korean Air said. |
