German flagship airline Lufthansa plans to actively use the open skies agreement made last year and is considering starting flights from Italy's Milan-Malpensa airport.
Lufthansa is considering offering transatlantic and European flights from Milan-Malpensa and base several aircraft at this location.
In order to bid for takeoff and landing rights, Lufthansa may meet with Italian state organisation Assoclearance next week.
A Lufthansa spokesman denied such a meeting is planned and said Lufthansa already plans to station aircraft at Milan-Malpensa from April. The spokesman said there is a general interest in Italy as one of the most attractive European markets.
