European planemaker Airbus is reviewing its production plans in response to the global financial crisis but the EADS unit believes demand for its aircraft remains strong, Chief Operating Officer John Leahy said in a newspaper report.
"Clearly, in light of the financial situation, we are reviewing our production plan," the Wall Street Journal cited Leahy as saying in its Wednesday edition.
"But we still have very strong demand, and we are confident that these aircraft are needed," the paper quoted him as saying.
Leahy warned at July's Farnborough Airshow in the UK that the market for its aircraft was likely to be weaker in the second half than in the first.
At the same time, Airbus Chief Executive Tom Enders said he would review production levels of the A320 single-aisle aircraft family later in the year.
