Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer said on Friday it delivered 48 jets in the third quarter, bringing total deliveries so far in 2008 to 145.

Embraer, the world's leading manufacturer of regional jets for commercial airlines, delivered 47 planes in the third quarter of 2007 and 52 aircraft in the second quarter of this year.

The company also reiterated its delivery forecast for the whole of 2008, saying it would deliver between 195 and 200 aircraft, plus 10 to 15 Phenom 100 business jets.

Besides regional jets, Embraer also makes military aircraft and is becoming a major player in the business jet market.

In the third quarter, Embraer delivered 37 commercial aircraft, nine business jets and two planes in the military and government segment.

Embraer's firm order backlog reached USD$21.6 billion in the third quarter, up 4.3 percent from the previous quarter.
