A row between SriLankan Airlines and Emirates over the renewal of the contract to run the tropical island's airline deepened Wednesday when Colombo revoked the work permit of the carrier's chief.
The work permit of British national Peter Hill-named chief executive of the airline by Dubai-based Emirates - was withdrawn after he refused to bump passengers off a flight from London to Colombo to make way for president Mahinda Rajapaksa and his 35-strong entourage.
Head of the investment regulatory authority Dhammika Perera said Hill had failed to "look after the interests of the majority shareholder." |
